Our electricity is purchased from a renewable only source, and all lighting is LED.
Our heating is by efficient infrared electric panels.
Outdoor path lighting is low impact and solar.
We use sustainably, locally sourced materials and tradesmen to build our pods.
All wood for firepits comes directly from our site or from sustainable sources.
Recycling is actively undertaken and encouraged on site with four separate bins.
Environmentally friendly cleaning products for guests use – locally or responsibly sourced and refillable thereby cutting down waste.
Educational material of the local flora and fauna is located in all the pods.
Native species of plants have been kept and further tree planting is continuing to be undertaken on a seasonal basis.
We rehome unwanted trees. (In 2024 we rehomed or planted 500 young oak trees and a 42-year-old container grown pine).
Encouraging biodiversity by leaving some wild areas.
We employ locally for changeovers, laundry, maintenance and gardeners.

At 3Trees Glamping, sustainability is at the heart of who we are and what we do.

We are located in a beautiful area and we want to respect it and protect it as much as possible, with that in mind here are some tips for you to help us.

Bear in mind when out walking to leave gates as you find them (open or closed), stay on the public footpath and do not feed any livestock.

Wildlife is abundant in the area and we ask that you observe the countryside code and adopt the motto of ‘leave no trace’.

Shop local – We have a fantastic selection of independent shops, restaurants, Artisan butchers, a zero-waste shop and a co-op supermarket which creates much less food miles.

Rather than bringing too much food and then throwing it away, save money by coming and shopping for it in Wirksworth, most things can be purchased within a 2-mile radius of our site.

Many of our roads are narrow country lanes and you may find walkers, horse riders or cyclists.

In all cases, please slow down and pass carefully and only when safe to do so.  In the case of horse riders and cyclist, please give them a wide berth.

We are not on main drains but have an Eco sewerage treatment plant which breaks down waste in an environmentally friendly way with very low carbon footprint.

We would ask that you DO NOT flush anything down the toilet other than toilet paper (and natural excretions), as anything else will block the system, please place everything else into the bin provided. If you have any fats or oils to dispose of, please put them in the general rubbish.

All pods run on electricity We ask that you turn off heating and lights when you go out or when they are not needed.

Use only the water you need and avoid leaving taps running.

Our water is mains fed and It is very safe to drink, so there is no need to buy plastic bottles of water.

Try to explore the area on foot and leave the car behind.

There are many public footpaths and cycle tracks to explore locally and books/ maps are provided in all pods for your use.

We have some wonderful visitor attractions locally and most can be reached by bus, so park up your car and enjoy the Bus ride.

It’s cheap, no parking hassle and relaxing.

We’ve got a great local train experience as well.
